Valve’s latest handheld gaming gadget Steam Deck was launched in early 2022 but it took the company about 10 months to clear hurdles in manufacturing and delivery to customers.
Today the company announced that starting December 17, four major Asian markets are also getting the handheld PC – Japan, Taiwan, Korea, and Hong Kong. In all cases it’s via Komodo, which is the official Steam Deck distributor in these regions.
The launch was initially announced in August when Valve set up landing pages on the respective regional websites for pre-orders. Users who pre-ordered will start receiving emails tomorrow to finalize their purchases, and December 17 will be the shipment date.
The American company aims high with this announcement since the home country of Nintendo and Sony is known for its huge industry of mobile and handheld gaming, which is more popular than regular PC gaming.
The prices of the Steam Deck in Asia are fairly close to what Valve is asking in Europe (from €419) and the United States (from $399).
