A sustainable event and movement, MUFFEST+ puts the spotlight on Muslim lifestyle campaigns with positive values, facilitating stakeholders of the fashion industry to boost Indonesia as the upcoming muslim fashion hub of the world. Over the year-long project, students are grouped to work with one industry partner, for whom they must plan and design a range of products, including apparel and homewares. The project gives hundreds of students each year the tools to explore the future of fashion through market research, trend forecasting, visual merchandising and product design. And then as I got older, I was interested in design, I still love sewing. But I started to realise how important the business side of fashion is, as well.

A Black child wearing a hoodie with the slogan “coolest monkey in the jungle” was featured in the ad. This immediately led to controversy, as “monkey” is commonly used as slur against Black people, and caused many customers to boycott the brand. Many people, including celebrities, posted on social media about their resentments towards H&M and refusal to work with and buy its products. H&M issued a statement saying “we apologise to anyone this may have offended”, though this too received some criticism for appearing insincere. Videos in general have been very useful in promoting the fashion industry.
