No progress in Egyptian mediation efforts

The source said, “Talks between the parties are continuing in Cairo, despite the lack of any progress.”

He added: “The Jihad movement insists that Israel is committed to ending the policy of assassinations and that the ceasefire be reciprocal and simultaneous.

On Friday evening, Israeli sources revealed that Egypt had submitted a new proposal for a ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip.

The sources said the Egyptian proposal includes a mutual cessation of attacks and a commitment to avoid harming civilians.

She explained that the proposal is currently being studied by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.

Cairo has recently been sought through mediation efforts to end the mutual bombardment.
